Hazard management

Hazard management

We have established, implemented and maintained a process for the ongoing identification of environmental aspects, health and safety hazards, the assessment of risks and impacts of routine and non-routine activities; human behavior, capabilities and other human factors; identified hazards originating outside and in the vicinity of the workplace; activities of personnel having access to work place including contractors and visitors, facilities at the workplace, whether provided by us or others. The results of these assessments are considered when determining controls.

Hazards are identified at various stages of projects and work as follows:

  • Complete hazard assessment before arriving at worksite.
  • Perform environmental impact assessment prior to starting a new project
  • Do site-specific assessment of hazards at the worksite, before starting work.
  • Hold pre-task safety meetings and review hazard assessments with personnel.
  • Do ongoing hazard assessment and pre-task hazard assessments during operations and for any changes to worksite conditions, equipment, processes, personnel, etc.
  • Perform health hazard analysis and propose control measures to minimize the exposure
  • If an incident occurs, do additional hazard assessment post-incident.
  • Report near miss incidents and unsafe conditions
  • Ensure controls are being implemented correctly.
  • Follow up to evaluate effectiveness of controls.
  • Implement corrective actions as needed.

All hazards are reported and adequate controls are implemented in order to eliminate, reduce or substitute by deploying engineering or administrative controls or propose personal protective equipment as last resort.
